IF MY SUBMISSION IS REJECTED CAN I RESUBMIT IT AT A LATER DATE?
Just because a work is rejected for a particular anthology doesn’t mean it’s not right for another. If your novel is rejected, we ask that you not resubmit the same work unless serious revisions have been made. Also, though we don’t routinely require this, we ask that resubmitted novels be accompanied by a synopsis that details the changes made to the work. Please allow 6 months before resubmitting a novel. If the submission window is closed at the six month period, please wait for it to reopen. Anthology submissions do not require the same waiting period, but please do not resubmit a short story to the same anthology for which it was declined.
WHAT FORMAT WILL MY BOOK BE AVAILABLE IN?
Print and eBook, unless otherwise indicated in the submission call. We occasionally select titles for audio book production based on demand.
HOW OFTEN CAN I EXPECT UPDATES ON ANTHOLOGIES IN PROGRESS?
No less than once a calendar month – sooner if news warrants it.
HOW OFTEN CAN I EXPECT UPDATES ON THE PROGRESS OF MY NOVEL?
No less than once a calendar month – sooner if news warrants it.
CAN I PICK THE EJP EDITOR I WANT TO WORK ON MY NOVEL?
We wish we could say yes to this, but editor workloads vary dependent on their lifestyle and outside responsibilities. You can feel free to query and we’ll do our best to accomidate you, but – as they say, no promises.
I DON’T AGREE WITH THE EDIT MY EDITOR GAVE MY WORK. DO I HAVE TO MAKE THE CHANGES? IS THERE SOMEONE I CAN COMPLAIN TO?
The first thing we stress to authors is that an editor’s goal is to make the work as good and marketable as possible. While advice they give and edits supplied may sting an author’s ego, it doesn’t vary the ultimate goal of improving the manuscript. If a problem is extreme, an author can make a complaint to Peter Giglio, the Executive Editor.
WHAT DO YOU PAY?
Payment varies. All submission calls include rates of pay, including submission calls for novels.
WHEN DO I GET PAYMENT FOR MY SHORT STORY?
Payments for short stories, to include contributor’s copies, are outlined in EJP contracts.
WHEN, AND HOW OFTEN, DO I GET A ROYALTY CHECK FOR MY EJP NOVEL?
Novel/collection payments are made monthly, however we pay out based on payments received from our sales channels. Since some sales channels pay differently than others, pay may vary depending on when it’s received. Also, since sales channels take up to 60 days to start paying some delays are to be expected in the first few months of publication. Bottom line: When we get paid, you get paid.
